Summori ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Summori desktop application and website at summori.com (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

By using Summori, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address – provided via Google OAuth sign-in or magic link authentication
  • Profile information – name and profile picture if provided through Google OAuth

Note: You can use Summori's free features without creating an account. Account creation is only required for premium features.

2.2 Usage Data

We collect anonymized usage statistics to improve our Service, including:

  • Number of summaries generated
  • Features used within the application
  • General usage patterns and session information

2.3 Payment Information

Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card numbers, bank account details, or other financial information on our servers. We only receive confirmation of successful transactions and subscription status from Stripe.

2.4 What We Do NOT Collect or Store

We want to be clear about what we do not collect:

  • Your videos – Video files never leave your device
  • Your audio – Audio extraction and transcription happen locally on your device
  • Your transcripts – Transcripts are processed locally and not stored on our servers
  • Your summaries – Generated summaries are not stored on our servers

3. How Your Data Is Processed

Summori is designed with privacy in mind. Here's how the summarization process works:

  1. Local video processing – Your video file stays on your device at all times
  2. Local transcription – Audio is extracted and transcribed locally using open-source Whisper technology
  3. AI summarization – Only the text transcript (not audio or video) is sent to Google's Gemini API for summarization
  4. Results delivered – The summary is returned to you and is not stored on our servers

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our Service
  • Process your transactions and manage your subscription
  • Send you important service-related communications
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
  • Improve and optimize our Service based on usage patterns
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or fraud

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Summori:

5.1 Google Gemini API

We use Google's Gemini API to generate summaries from text transcripts. Only text data is sent to this service – never your original video or audio files. Google's privacy policy applies to their processing of this data: https://policies.google.com/privacy

5.2 Stripe

We use Stripe to process payments. Stripe collects and processes payment information in accordance with their privacy policy: https://stripe.com/privacy

5.3 Google OAuth

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile information (email, name, profile picture) from Google. Google's privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy

6. Data Storage and Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit using TLS/SSL
  • Secure authentication mechanisms

Our website may use essential cookies to maintain your session and preferences. We do not use third-party tracking cookies for advertising purposes. The desktop application does not use cookies.
